Adoption of advanced IoT-enabled technologies can accelerate innovation in Poland for Industry 4.0

WARSAW, Poland (April 20, 2017) -- Executives of Emerson, a global leader in engineering and technology, met with Poland’s Ministry of Economic Development today to brief the government on the company’s Operational Certainty™ program. The company explained how this initiative can help industrial companies in Poland achieve higher levels of performance in safety, reliability, productivity and energy and emissions management.

Participating in the meeting at the Ministry offices were: David Farr, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Emerson, and Tadeusz Kościński, Undersecretary of State in Poland’s Ministry of Economic Development.

“Today the competitiveness of a nation’s economy depends on having access to technology and training skilled workers for the future,” said Emerson’s David Farr. “Poland has a very important and ambitious plan for development. The usage of advanced technologies based on the Internet of Things will enable an accelerated implementation of this plan and Emerson is ready to provide strong support for the Polish Platform for Industry 4.0 initiative.”

The Ministry’s Tadeusz Kościński said, “Emerson’s development in Poland perfectly fits into the government’s Strategy for Responsible Development. The company has been present in Poland for over 25 years, which makes it familiar with the reality of the Polish market. We trust that due to investing in the development of its research and development center and in modern production capacity, Emerson will contribute to increasing the industry's innovation in Poland.

“The improvement of competitiveness of the Polish economy, and in particular Poland’s energy-intensive industries, is particularly important for Poland. Emerson’s Plantweb™ technology, combined with the knowledge and resources of the European expert center for power engineering in Warsaw, can be a good basis for the development of a National Center of Excellence for Industry 4.0,” added the Undersecretary of State for the Ministry of Economic Development.

Emerson employs more than 500 people in Poland. In Warsaw, Emerson Automation Solutions has its European Center for Excellence for the Power Industry and a research and development center for its reliability technologies, where worldwide used simulation software and Plantweb digital components are designed.

Emerson’s Plantweb concept was introduced 20 years ago as the industry’s first field-based digital plant architecture. In recent years it has been expanded for easy, secure and enterprise-wide access to data and analytics, helping manufacturers achieve Top Quartile performance. This is particularly important for energy-intensive industries, which, thanks to Plantweb technology, can increase production safety, improve reliability and optimize consumption of energy and material resources.

Emerson also operates its largest European pneumatic automation components manufacturing facility in Lodz, Poland.
