What is a Digital Isolation Solution?
Digital isolation solutions are specifically designed for critical applications where safety is imperative. As the final control element within the Safety Instrumented System (SIS), each solution is comprised of a valve, actuator, and digital valve controller that have been SIL-certified as a complete package. Accessories, like regulators, volume boosters, and limit switches, round out the solution to provide added security and peace-of-mind to know the valve assembly will perform as desired in your SIS application.

SAFETY INSTRUMENTED FUNCTIONS
The SIS consists of several safety instrumented functions (SIF). Each safety instrumented function has a specified safety integrity level (SIL), which is necessary to achieve functional safety. Each SIF is a separate or interlinked loop comprised of sensors, logic solvers, and final control elements.
Field sensors are used to collect information necessary to determine if an emergency situation exists.
Logic solvers determine what action is to be taken based on the information gathered.
Final control elements implement the action determined by the logic solver. These elements typically include an automated on/off valve, with a valve fail-closed or fail-open function.
